How to Choose the Right Ball for You
How do you know which golf ball is right for you?
A tricky question since there are somewhere around 1,000 rules-approved balls on the market, offering so many performance and construction options. You can’t really get an unbiased opinion from the manufacturers who make them. They like to recommend their own balls. But you can get one from us. The Golf Ball Divers.
We know used golf balls. Not just because we collect them, but because we play them too. You can also trust us to be unbiased. Since we sell all the top brands and models, we’ve got no horse in this race.
Our Simple 3-Step Recommendation
Start by looking at a couple aspects of your game:
Step One: Identify your game’s weak points. Is it distance with your driver and irons? Is it not being able to keep the ball in the fairway? Is it trouble stopping the ball on the green? Your answers will tell you what you are looking for in a ball:
- More distance
- More “feel” for better consistency
- More spin for better control
- Maybe all of the above
Step Two: Categorize your swing speed:
- Average Swing Speed – Typically hits driver less than 220 yards
- Medium Swing Speed – Typically hits driver 220-260 yards
- High Swing Speed – Typically hits driver more than 260 yards
Step Three: Use the chart below to find the makes and models that match what you need – more distance, more consistency or more spin – with your swing speed. It’s easy and it can really help you improve your game.
The Right Ball for You: Just match where you need to improve your game with your swing speed.
Low Swing Speed (Driver distance 190-220) | Mid Swing Speed (Driver Distance 220-260) | High Swing Speed (Driver Distance 260-280) | Ridiculously High Swing Speed (Driver Distance 280-300+) | |
